lyrics

Embarrassed

I thought if I outdid myself I’d learn to sidestep pain,
And make enough damn money, you’d smile and call my name.
Turned theory into practice, you can’t say I didn’t work.
I covered all the bases, but boy, did I get hurt.

So I chose to be an optimist and share my sunny view
And look for the good in everyone because I know it’s true:
Enlightenment is possible–but I wouldn’t call it bliss
‘Cause when my eyes were opened all I saw was this:

I feel totally embarrassed. I wish I could disappear.
Now I’m so ashamed I wrote a song I don’t want anyone to hear.

When I told you I was dying a smile crept on your face.
I thought that I’d seen everything but you’re a special case.
I sacrificed the moon and sun for the one who didn’t care.
Well, la di da di da di da… nobody was there.

I feel totally embarrassed. I wish I could disappear.
Now I’m so ashamed I wrote a song I don’t want anyone to hear.
I feel totally embarrassed. I wish I could disappear.
Now I’m so ashamed I wrote a song I don’t want anyone to hear.
I don’t want anyone to hear.
